Dear Ann and Tom, I hope all is well with your family. Skycie is having a terrific year at school. She has really matured and enjoys this school year. YES, she is coming back to camp next summer. The impact your family and staff made on my daughter after a tough year from losing her dad, is so very hard to put into words. I cherish your ethics and philosophy and the amazing results they had on Skycie. I can only say, "I have my Skycie back, as she was before her daddy passed on". Her self esteem is at it's highest, her desire to achieve is back and Skycie's wonderful sense of wonder and imagination is truly GOD's gift. She has taken her scrapbook of Learning Camp to school and shared it with all her classmates, teachers and friends. She is so very proud of her extended family. I would be honored to share her with you and your family and staff again this coming 2004 summer. Please take good care of yourselves and stay in touch with regards to her return next year. Very fondly, Wendy, Skycie's Mom Sean returned home today and I was thrilled with the changes I immediately noticed. He walked with self confidence and emanated a calm, happy and well-balanced composure that I had never seen before. Being in your supportive, nurturing and loving environment with you and your wonderful staff allowed Sean "to come into his own". I know that Jenny and I will continue to build on the foundation you have given to Sean and I thank you and your staff from the bottom of my heart. I know that we'll see you next year and until then wish everyone my very best regards. Gratefully, Steve, Sean's Dad Words are hard to express my feelings for what was provided as a learning experience for Tyler. As you could tell on Friday, that I was emotional and did not begin to convey my gratefulness for all that was provided to Ty. The road map for this young man has been improved due to your involvement as a person and as a team of wonderful people. He had himself a wonderful time and had many good learning experiences and even made some friends! Both Barb and I are so proud of Tyler and the strides he has made. We know that there will be many additional challenges to be met but we also know he is on the right track. You and your staff have been an important part of that. May God bless you and all the staff for caring and for providing for Tyler and all the other kids. Thanks for all the POSITIVE. Always, John, Tyler's Dad Just a note to let you know Sarah arrived right on time. She looked wonderful. Telling us stories all the way home. She really did learn that she had a "whole new family" at the Learning Camp. We feel it is wonderful that she thought of you and Tom as "extra parents". Thank you. We will do everything we can to be sure that it is possible for Sarah to return next year. Take care and have a wonderful rest of the summer. Our very best to all of you and a special thanks to "Grandma Easy", Sarah really loved her as her teacher. Thanks, Ann and Al, Sarah's parents Thanks for taking such great care of my son Benjamin. He seems to have had a great time. We have just spent a few days with some extended family and several people commented on his behavior. Benjamin seems more confident, more social and better able to interact with people. I think being in an environment where his "differences" weren't so different; and where he was accepted and encouraged has made a positive impact on Benjamin. Good luck with the rest of the summer and please keep up the good work. Peggy, Benjamin's Mom I just wanted to say "Thank You" for everything you have done for Chris. He came back a very changed boy, enthusiastic and happy. It was truly the best money I ever spent. Chris was filled with excitement about all of his adventures. His only disappointment was that he graduated and will not be able to attend again next summer. Thank you again for all that you and your staff has done and I look forward to sending Michelle next summer. Keep up the good work. I hope to bring my husband with me next year when we drop off Michelle so that he may meet the staff that helped his son get through this tough time while he was helping to liberate Iraq. His thanks goes out to you too. Donna, Chris' Mom I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for taking such good care of my son, Samuel. He had such a wonderful time! It was definitely the experience of a lifetime. Again, thanks so much for everything....We will definitely see you next summer. Nancie, Samuel's Mom Camp was all I had hoped for! Mike had a wonderful time, made friends, and did all sorts of things that he had never done...horseback riding, rafting, caving, building a bike rack and more. Thanks so much and thanks to all. Alice, Mike's Grandmother I am so very happy our Sam is doing so well. What a beautiful young man. We are so grateful to you and Tom for the love and support you give to those special children who might not be recognized for their wonderful qualities. Thank you for providing a safe and challenging environment for them where they can realize, "Yes, I CAN!" What would we have done without the Learning Camp? It has given our family such a sense of perspective and renewal. God Bless you. We have taught our children "In God, all things are possible." However you have provided the place where this can be accomplished ....in spades. You are giving such a gift to so many families. You will always have a special place in our hearts. I am so glad that I will be there to thank you both in person. See you then. Melissa, Sam's Mom We just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the good job you all did with Alex while she was at camp. She is so proud of the experience she had and is already telling people how she plans on going back next year for 3 weeks. Alex’s Mom Thank you very much for giving Robby the chance to attend your camp this summer. It was very clear that he enjoyed it very much. I'm impressed by the variety of activities that he participated in, and the work that he completed in his notebook. It was also great to see the maps he made. This was a very positive experience for him, thanks much to the great effort and capabilities of yourself and your capable staff, Tom, Mark, and the others. I hope Robby will have the opportunity to attend your camp again next summer. Robby’s Dad You were wrong when you told me that Ben would have a hard time choosing between the two-week and the three-week camp next summer. He wants neither. He wants to attend ALL the sessions next summer!!!!! Out of the question of course, but we'll definitely plan on whatever session Robby and Joe take. The Learning Camp experience was one of the best of Ben's life. I have never seen him so full of self-esteem! He has received numerous e-mails and even a letter and a small gift from the friends he made. For a child who has been called "stupid" by classmates in the past, this was joy, success and friendship far beyond his (or my) expectations. Thank you so much for giving him the gift of this wonderful experience! Ben’s Mom Just wanted to let you know that Lindsey arrived in Chicago and into our waiting arms, safe and sound. And she was just bubbling with camp stories. We got such a kick out of seeing her and hearing all about camp. She had a GREAT time. Thank you for making it such a wonderful place. She even seems older and more mature. We send our very heartfelt thanks to each of you for your boundless energy, enthusiasm, intense effort, and genuine love that makes The Learning Camp the experience of a lifetime. Lindsey’s Mom My children have not stopped talking about how they loved camp. In fact, Mary's first words off the airplane were "Mom, can I go back for the last session?" They both want to come back next summer. Mary and Mija’s Mom Thank you for the wonderful experience James had at camp this summer. James came home with an obvious change in his self-esteem and self-confidence. He was excited about everything he did at camp, and he talked about his experience for several weeks. The thing that was most encouraging though, was that he shared things about his classroom time and how much he liked the way that he was taught. That is the first time that James has ever remembered how he learned something! The math activities seemed to be his favorite, and he worked hard to explain some of them to us. As the beginning of the new school year approached, James' new confidence really came out. For the first time, he took the lead in the back to school activities (picking up his schedule, pictures, etc.) and relied on me only for some reading help. We are so pleased and very excited. It is wonderful to have so many things to praise James for on a daily basis. I feel that James' experience at camp has played a huge role in all of these positive changes. If you ever doubt that what you are doing is worthwhile, we want you to know that IT IS. James’ Mom Many thanks to you and your staff for providing such a positive experience for Nicolas. We have been treasuring the bits and pieces of camp stories ever since we picked him up. He came home with more confidence and is a really happy boy. It is such a comfort and relief, as parents of a child with learning
disabilities, to find a supportive, well-informed and loving group of
people to help out in the growing up process. Nicolas’ Mom and Dad As the boys got off the plane, they couldn’t stop talking about camp and the activities. They love being in Colorado and being at The Learning Camp. Although Ryan is too old to return, Kevin will be back for two sessions next summer. Ryan and Kevin’s Dad Ben was reading to me last night and stopped to say how much he felt he was helped by the work he did this summer, “and especially by The Learning Camp.” Thank you for making this opportunity available for kids who need extra support during the summer. Ben’s Mom Your Learning Camp has enriched William’s life for the last four years and enabled him to be a confident and more self-reliant young man. There is no way I can put in words what this means to us, and of course to William. You, Tom, all your wonderful counselors and teachers have made a truly significant difference in his life. William’s Mom and Dad I just wanted to take a minute to tell you Nathan sure enjoyed his camp and loves telling anyone who will listen all about it! He has so many stories and pictures! Quite an adventure for him. Thanks again for all your help.
